It can deliver help if a client falls, is unable to get out of a chair or bed, or they’re simply are not feeling well.

 

CHP offers systems from Philips Lifeline and Medscope; both systems are similar in function and use a wireless or a landline phone. A response-button pendent is worn either around the neck or the wrist. When help is needed, the client will push the button and the unit places a phone call to a response center. The response associate accesses personal profile, evaluates the situation and talks to the client through the unit’s speaker.  The response center’s goal is to establish two-way communication. Based on the situation assessment, the associate is capable of either calling the EMS or family members, friends, or neighbors that are listed in the personal profile.

 

Medical alert pendants are required to meet certain regulations. All of them are waterproof and can be worn in the shower, where falls are more common. Units also have a battery backup so, in the event of a power outage, it will continue to work for approximately 24 hours. The unit also self-tests to ensure everything is operating properly. If there are issues, CHP will be notified and schedule a time to repair the unit.
